Capacity, History & Design

The stadium first opened in 1972. Home to the four-time Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, it is the third-oldest stadium still in use by an NFL franchise. However, the venue underwent a major transformation in 2010 following the completion of a $375 million renovation project. For the World Cup in 2026, the arena will have a reduced capacity of 67,513.

For the 2026 tournament the usual turf inside Arrowhead has been replaced with Bermuda grass.

The stadium is renowned for its acoustics, having been specifically engineered to amplify crowd noise and direct the sound back onto the field. Indeed in 2014 the stadium set a Guinness World Record for the loudest stadium noise with 142.2 decibels.

Stadium tours are available and take in the locker rooms, Hall of Honor, media zones, and views of the pitch.
