Capacity & History

Opened in 2015, the stadium seats about 53,000 spectators and is home to C.F. Monterrey (Rayados). Work began in 2011 and the ground was completed in 2015 at a cost of around US$200 million. It was the most expensive stadium in Mexico at the time of its completion and the design takes inspiration from the local steel industry.

Hour-long stadium tours are available on selected days (in Spanish) and include visits to the changing rooms, press room, field, and club museum.

C.F. Monterrey

Nicknamed 'Rayados' (The Striped Ones), C.F. Monterrey play their home games at the stadium. The club was founded in 1945 and play in vertical blue and white striped shirts, colors found in the seating at the ground.

Considered the oldest active professional team from Northern Mexico, Monterrey has won several Liga MX titles and Copa MX trophies, along with additional honors like the Campeón de Campeones. Internationally, they are especially prominent in North America, having captured the CONCACAF Champions League five times, including three consecutive titles from 2011 to 2013.

They have also finished third twice in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2012 in Japan and 2019 in Qatar. In 2012 they lost 3-1 in the semifinal to Chelsea and beat Al Ahly 2-0 in the third-place playoff. In 2019 Rayados lost 2-1 to Liverpool and then defeated Al Hilal on penalties in the third-place playoff.

Some famous players to have represented the club include Chilean Humberto Suazo, one of their greatest goal scorers with 102 goals for the club between 2007 and 2015, and Jesús Arellano, who had two spells with the club playing over 400 games, was a star of the 1998 World Cup in France but is now a fugitive from Mexican justice.

More recent stars include Rogelio Funes Mori, the club's all-time leading scorer with 260 in all competitions between 2015 and 2023, and players like the Argentinian winger Maximiliano Meza and Mexican centre-back Héctor Moreno, who have contributed to the club's modern success. The team also attracted global attention with the high-profile signing of ex-Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos in 2025. Ramos became the oldest player to score at the Club World Cup when he netted for Monterrey in the expanded 2025 edition.

Monterrey's other big club is Tigres UANL who play at the Estadio Universitario which hosted several matches during the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
